Xinhuanet, COLOMBO, Nov. 3 (Xinhuanet) — The US and Sri Lankan Air Forces are conducting a Subject Matter Expert exchange in Sri Lanka this month, the US embassy here said in a statement on Monday.
Approximately 30 highly qualified specialists of the US Air Force are participating in the exchange with the Sri Lankan Air Force, it said.
During the program, the US group will exchange information on tactics, techniques and procedures. They will also conduct a combined survey of airfields with the Sri Lankan air force.
“This long-planned Subject Matter Exchange between the US and Sri Lankan Air Forces is one of many ongoing programs between the US and Sri Lankan militaries, and exemplifies the strong relationship between the two nations,” the statement said.
Military cooperation between the United States and Sri Lanka has increased since Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's government launched the ongoing Norwegian-brokered peace process soon after the ruling United National Party won the December 2001 parliamentary elections.
