Indra, The US Navy has contracted Indra, through its American subsidiary Indra Systems, for the development of a new simulator of the vertical take-off and landing aircraft the Harrier AV-8B+ for pilot training, the contract amounting to almost 8 million euros.
The contract contemplates the development of a Full Mission Simulator (FMS) replicating the cockpit, commands, maneuvers and equipment of the real aircraft, thus allowing pilots to train on handling of the plane with absolute effectiveness.
This project is not integrated into Training Systems Contract II, the restricted simulation-related bidding procedure set up by the US Navy for the next five years, in which Indra has been selected as the only non-North American company.
Indra will develop and produce this simulator of the Harrier AV-8B+ at its facilities in Florida, a center that since 1998 has channeled Indra
