Thales UK, Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) history was made today at the ParcAberporth Unmanned Systems event in Wales with the first flight in UK airspace of a large UAV.
Thales UK and Watchkeeper team partner Elbit systems presented a flight demonstration of the Hermes 450 UAV, which is the basis from which the Watchkeeper air vehicles will be developed. This is the first time a large UAV has been certified to fly in UK airspace, an important milestone in the development of the UK's unmanned system industry. The event was attended by members of the MoD, Department of Transport, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Civil Aviation Authority and other invited guests at this dedicated unmanned systems industry event.
