NZ Ministry of Defence,
Clever industry solutions to military problems are being tested during the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) this week.
The international trial of Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) technology allows the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) to evaluate new systems and learn from other participating countries.
This year, four systems are being trialled by the NZDF: the Commercial Joint Mapping Toolkit Geospatial Appliance, the Global Command and Control System / Internet Common Operational Picture, the Coalition Joint Operations Picture and the Trusted Enterprise Services Bus.
Commander Rodger Ward, head of Communication and Information Systems at Joint Force Headquarters NZ, said that this year, the focus is on technology that supports Information Infrastructure and effective Command and Control (C2).
“CWID is a core component of the NZDF’s Network Enabled Capability (NEC) Experimentation Plan and is integral to our NEC Strategy. The technology under evaluation this year helps our warfighters determine the optimum configuration for Command and Control and Situational Awareness tools being acquired through our Capital Programmes.”
There will be an opportunity for industry specialist media to attend an open evening, and view a demonstration of the trial systems at Headquarters Joint Forces NZ in Trentham. Media wishing to attend must RSVP by 12 noon on Tuesday 17 June 2008 to ensure that access is available. Photo identification will be required.
