AFP, Taiwan has test fired two US-made Patriot missiles.
Taiwan's Defence Ministry says the missiles destroyed an incoming pilotless vehicle, serving as a mock enemy plane, in a successful live-fire drill at the Chiupeng base in the country's south.
Taiwan has deployed three batteries of Patriot anti-missile systems to defend the densely populated Greater Taipei area against the nearly 500 Chinese missiles aimed at the island.
Separately, Taiwan has launched a series of computer war games to evaluate the island's defence capabilities.
Real exercises, involving troops and military hardware, will follow the simulation but no details have yet been released.
