ROSTOV-ON-DON: A serial model of the Mi-28N Night Hunter conducted its first flight at the Rostov Helicopter Plant (Rostvertol), the company's press service said Tuesday.
“In spring 2005, our plant signed a contract on the delivery of three [Mi-28N] helicopters to the Defense Ministry,” a company source told RIA Novosti. “Their deployment is expected next spring after the completion of all tests.”
According to Rostvertol, the Mi-28N is a new-generation attack helicopter featuring high survivability and a wide range of advanced armaments.
The helicopter is primarily designed to locate and destroy enemy armored vehicles, personnel, small surface ships, low-speed air targets and fortifications and to lay mine fields day or night in adverse weather conditions.
High reliability and powerful weaponry ensure the helicopter's competitiveness on global aircraft markets, the Rosvertol press service said.
