Korea Overseas Information Service, Military procurement officials from Korea and Indonesia will discuss in Jakarta Tuesday ways of expanding cooperation in the weapons industry, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said on Monday (Aug. 21).
During the three-day talks, the 13th of their kind since 1991, the two sides will focus on Korea's participation in the Southeast Asian country's arms buildup project for a new submarine fleet, basic trainer aircraft and armored vehicles, the agency said in a press release.
DAPA'S Deputy Chief Lee Yong-chul is to represent the Korean delegation at the meeting, while the Indonesian side will be led by Air Force Maj. Gen. Slamet Prihatino, it said. Prihatino serves as chief of the Indonesian military's defense products procurement bureau.
On the sidelines of the talks, the Korean delegates are scheduled to pay a courtesy visit on Indonesian Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono later in the day and tour PT Pindad, a producer of weapons and heavy equipment in the West Java capital of Bandung on Wednesday, DAPA officials said.
The sides are scheduled to hold a ceremony to deliver 200 Korean military radio systems (PRC-999KE/C) to Indonesia under a contract signed in December, they said.
