Thales, On the 19th of December 2007 Thales signed a contract with the Chilean shipyard Asmar for the supply of its latest compact S-Cube sonar suite.
This equipment is part of the modernization programme of the Ecuadorian Navy's 209 type submarines.
Thales offers to supply its latest generation of sea proven S-Cube sonar system to fulfill all the requirements of the Ecuadorian Navy at no risk and a very competitive price. The sonar configuration proposed is based on the same technology as the large sonar suites installed on the French and British submarines adapted to a very compact packaging.
The sonar provides exceptional performance namely thanks to the Planar flank array and use of state of the art sonar processing, especially the adaptive beam-forming already at sea with many navies.
“I am glad to bring to the Ecuadorian Navy our latest generation systems” Guy Baruchel, VP Underwater Systems says. “For Thales, it is also an opportunity to penetrate the market of sonar retrofit onboard 209 submarines with unmatched technology”.
