Rosoboronexport, Russia is a great sea power and one of the world's acknowledged leaders in shipbuilding. Its industry is capable of building all classes of submarines, combatants and auxiliary vessels, as well as developing all types of naval armaments and equipment. High level maritime science, design and shipbuilding technologies together with large industrial base and highly qualified labour force justify Russia's leading positions among exporters of naval armaments and equipment.
For half a century Russia has exported over 2,000 major surface ships, submarines, patrol vessels and missile boats. In term of export volume of vessels and boats, Russia has outperformed all major shipbuilding countries, including the U.S.A., Great Britain, Germany and France.
Naval exports are of high priority in Russia's military-technical cooperation with foreign countries. In year 2004 annual defence export volume, which exceeded 5.1 bln USD, naval share constituted 24 percent. And in the current year- for the first time in the history of Russia's military-technical cooperation with foreign countries, this figure is expected to overcome one half.
Rosoboronexport, in its capacity of the sole state intermediary agency for arms exports, offers foreign partners a wide range of Russian naval products, many of which have no foreign analogues. Company's stand at IMDS-2005 displays mock-ups, scale-models, information and advertising materials on more than 100 types of armaments and military equipment for the Navy and wide range of Russian Defense Industries export products.
