, Russia plans to start re-arming and re-equipping its military base in Armenia, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said at a press conference in Yerevan on Tuesday evening.
Russia needs to improve the “quality of its military presence in Armenia.” It will, therefore have to re-arm and retrofit the military base in Armenia, said the minister. However, the minister emphasised that Russia did not intend to boost its military presence in the republic.
On Tuesday the Russian and Armenian defence ministers have signed a series of agreements on bilateral military and military-technological co-operation. One of the documents amends the procedure of transferring the land plots to the Russian base and of using them.
