MOSCOW: Russia is not negotiating supplies of any weapons to Iran, except air defense systems, a senior official said Thursday.
Mikhail Dmitriyev, the head of the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation, said: “The contract on the supplies of air defense systems, which are of a purely defensive nature, has been concluded. No other talks are being held.”
Russia has agreed to supply Iran with Tor-M1 missile systems, but officials have categorically denied media reports that it the country was considering selling Tehran S-300 PM02 Favorit batteries.
