UK Ministry of Defence, Adam Ingram, Minister of State for the Armed Forces, has said that Russia is making good progress in its programme to dispose of its stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. He was speaking on 14 October 2005, at the end of a four day visit to Russia to see how the UK is directly involved in practical co-operation with Russia, following a tour of the construction site of the Shchuch'ye chemical weapons destruction facility and a visit to the closed nuclear city of Snezhinsk.
The UK is providing assistance to Russia as part of the G8 countries Global Partnership against the spread of weapons and materials of mass destruction. This is now the UK's biggest single programme in the former Soviet Union. Over
