, Russia has accused the United States of illegally imposing sanctions on some of its military firms that Washington says have cooperated with Iran and Syria.
Russia's Foreign Ministry issued a statement Saturday saying this is not the first time the United States has tried to impose its domestic laws on foreign companies. The statement said Moscow is fully compliant with its international obligations in the area of arms control.
The United States on Friday announced it was imposing sanctions on a number of Russian firms and individuals for allegedly selling weapons and missiles to Iran and Syria. The ban includes state-run arms trader Rosoboronexport, the Tula Instrument-Making Design Bureau and the Kolomna Machine-building Design Bureau.
The sanctions ban the companies from conducting business with the United States for two years.
