Singapore Defence Agency, The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)'s Air Mission Trainer (AMT) was commissioned at a ceremony at the Flight Simulator Centre in the Paya Lebar Air Base this afternoon by 2nd Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen.
The commissioning of the AMT is another milestone in the RSAF's transformation journey. The AMT is a network of multi-role combat simulators which allows pilots and mission commanders to train, operate and fight as an integrated force. The system provides pilots with quick start-ups to a wide spectrum of operations and in various challenging environments, in a cost-effective and timely manner.
The simulator training complements flying training and will allow pilots to attain proficiency more quickly in the aircraft. The AMT also allows the RSAF to overcome constraints in training space.
Jointly developed by the RSAF, Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) and Singapore Technologies Electronics (Training and Simulation Systems) Pte Ltd, the AMT is one of the most sophisticated and advanced simulator training systems in the RSAF, and the first of its kind in the region.
