Russian Ministry of Defence, SEBASTOPOL, Russia: Officials from Directorate of search and rescue works, Russian Navy, are holding a meeting with their UK colleagues to settle the details of a forthcoming Russia-UK agreement on emergency submarine rescue operations.
UK is represented here by six Royal Navy experts, including Capt. Jonathan Holloway, British Naval Attache to Moscow, and Capt. Simon Airey, British Defence Attache to Kiev.
The Russian party at the talks is led by Capt. Vladimir Tikhonovskov, deputy chief, Directorate of search and rescue works, Russian Navy.
On the first working day of the meeting in Sebastopol Russian and British naval officials agreed on the work plan and heard a report by Capt. Vasiliy Vasiltchuk, chief of Directorate of search and rescue works, Black Sea Fleet.
Afterwards, participants of the meeting watched the last month's submarine crew rescue operation video.
Later that day, the Royal Navy officers visited 'Komunna' rescue boat carrying a mannable recovery vehicle AS-5.
In the course of the visit UK naval officials are also due to visit 'Epron' rescue ship where they will be briefed on its diving organization. They will see the SK-64, so-called rescue bell, and be demonstrated its submerging down onto a mock submarine coaming.
After the end of the visit's official part the UK guests will be offered a tour through the city's sights.
