Operators
People's Republic of China
People's Liberation Army Air Force – 89 J-10A/B on active duty (as of July 2007)[1]
Pakistan
Pakistan Air Force – 36 J-10-variant "FC-20" to be ordered[19]
Iran
Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force – Has reportedly ordered 24 J-10s (20 single-seat J-10As and 4 J-10S twin-seaters, slated to be delivered in 2008-2010), but with Russian-made AL-31FN engines.[20][21][22]
However, shortly after the announcement by Haaretz, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has denied the sale. On October 25, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao stated: "It's not true, it is an irresponsible report. China has not had talks with Iran on J-10 jets."[23] While further confirmations or denials can be expected from other Iranian, and Chinese sources, the Russian media Kommersant acknowledged the deal. Such a sale remains possible, given Iran's requirements and its relationship with China.[22] The Chinese Foreign Ministry has denied this claim in a broadcast and subsequent official Xinhua publications.
