PTI, Balasore (Orissa): Russian-built Surface-to-Air missiles “OSA-AK” was successfully testfired in four rounds at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-On-Sea, about 15 kms from Balasore on Thursday.
ITR sources said the missile having a striking range of 10 to 15 kms was testfired between 3 pm and 4 pm. The missile was also testfired for eight rounds from the launch complex on November 21.
OSA-AK missile was also testfired twice earlier during an air defence exercise inside the ITR from November 14 last to gauge the performance of the missile as well as that of the indigeneously built Lakshya, the Pilotles Targetted Aircraft (PTA).
Defence sources said the missile was again successfully testfired on November 18 from the ITR.
The testfire of the OSA-AK was the fourth in a row since the defence exercise commenced on November 14, to reassure the capabilities of various missiles and rockets.
