Russia has not embargoed its existing arms contracts with Syria, Vyacheslav Dzirkaln, the deputy head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, said on Wednesday.
Russia will fulfill existing contracts for air defense systems and helicopters to Syria, he told journalists during an international airshow in Farnborough, Britain.
On Monday, Dzirkaln said Russia would not deliver any new types of weapons or sign any military contracts with Syria until the situation there stabilizes.
“We are not talking about new arms supplies to that country,” he said.
“Until the situation stabilizes we will not deliver any new weapons” he added.
