Rheinmetall DeTec, In response to an immediate operational requirement of the German Bundeswehr, Rheinmetall Landsysteme is supplying the German military with additional DURO 3 multipurpose vehicles, earmarked for deployment in foreign trouble spots.
Along with the 12 vehicles ordered in December 2002 and configured for a Mobile Medical Team (MMT) version, a further four vehicles (modified for military police operations) are now in production following the award of a new contract in July 2003.
Manufactured under an exclusive cooperation agreement with the Swiss company MOWAG, the DURO 3 is a state-of-the-art 6×6 multipurpose wheeled armoured vehicle. As such, it complements the existing family of non-armoured DURO vehicles, more than 3,500 of which are now in successful service with the Swiss Army.
