Finnish Government, During its meeting on 9th of November 2007 the Cabinet Committee on Economic Policy of Finnish Government discussed the situation regarding the negotiations that the Ministry of Defence has conducted with the French company NHIndustries.
The Ministry of Defence has negotiated with NHIndustries of the possibility to deliver lesser equipped helicopters at first stage. The customer and the supplier have also negotiated of the compensation caused by the delay of the delivery.
Finland ordered 20 NH90 helicopters in the year 2001. According to the valid contract, the first helicopter was due in April 2005 and the last in October 2008. None have yet been delivered.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Policy of Finnish Government seconded the continuation of the negotiations.
According to Minister of Defence Jyri Häkämies, the negotiations with NHIndustries have continued in a positive spirit. The objective is to complete the negotiations and have a solution as fast as possible.
As soon as the negotiations have been completed, the Ministry of Defence will inform of the outcome as well as of other thereto related matters.
