Navy Deep Sea Diving In WWII
Two films produced by the Navy in 1944 as training films for dress and techniques in deep sea diving. Both films contain excellent underwater scenes, as well as close-ups detailing various pieces of apparatus that make up the deep sea diving suit of the 1940s.
This video includes two films produced by the Navy Department in 1944. The First title is "The Diving Dress." The film looks at the diving dress and characteristics of each part. It outlines the dangers of underwater pressure and how to avoid injury from it. There are scenes on how the suit is prepared and inspected before diving. The second title is called "The Technique of Diving." This film includes dressing procedures, the divers final check of equipment, method of descending, visibility, currents and information for dress tenders.
