NATO-led and Afghan troops have killed 52 insurgents in an operation in southern Afghanistan, according to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
Twenty rebels opened fire on NATO-led International Security Assistance Force and Afghan soldiers in Uruzgan province on Sunday, it said in a statement on Monday.
The troops repelled the attack and fighting continued for several hours, with 52 insurgents killed.
The Afghan army said earlier Sunday that around 30 rebels were killed in the clash which took place in the Char Chino district.
