MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Oct. 10, 2009) A Marine amphibious assault vehicle (AAV) operator assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU) watches a vehicle offload from the well deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) during the biennial, multinational exercise Bright Star 2009, off the coast of Alexandria, Egypt. Bright Star is conducted by U.S. Central Command and is designed to improve readiness, interoperability, and to strengthen military and professional relationships among U.S., Egyptian and several other coalition forces.
