Lausman, commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), conducts a news conference with Japanese media personnel to discuss George Washington's upcoming Keen Sword exercise with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Keen Sword allows the U.S. and Japan to practice and evaluate the coordination procedures and interoperability elements required to effectively and mutually respond to the defense of Japan or to a regional crisis or contingency situation in the Asia-pacific region.
