Bright Star Exercise 2005 - U.S. Marines from Expeditionary Strike Group On

Mubarek Military City, Egypt (Sept. 12, 2005) – U.S. Marines from Expeditionary Strike Group One (ESG-1), 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit disembark a Landing Craft Utility (LCU) from the amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA 1) in preparation for the upcoming amphibious assault landing demonstration in support of Bright Star Exercise 2005. The exercise is an important part of U.S. Central Command’s theater engagement strategy and is designed to improve readiness, interoperability, strengthen the military and professional relationships among U.S., Egyptian and participating forces.
