At sea aboard USS Hopper (DDG 70) Aug. 5, 2002 -- Gunners Mate 2nd Class Shermel Howard cleans the barrel of the MK-45, a 5-inch, 54-caliber gun system aboard Hopper. The guided missile destroyer is on a regularly scheduled deployment conducting missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Southern Watch.
