I want to know that which is the most advanced fighter(operating) in the USAF` armoury right now??

I read in som thread that F-15`s r the best ones!!! Is it true??R they better than the F-18 super hornets??
Also, how many Hornets are serving the USAF currently,& what are their capabilities???

First, you will have to clarify your question somewhat:

Most advanced, or most effective fighter?

Most advanced fighter, currently in service with the USAF- or projectd for service in the near future?

Most advanced air to air, air to ground, or multi-role fighter?

Secondly, there are zero (0), Superhonets in the USAF-
The Superhornet is currently the USN's premier, carrier-based multi-role tactical fighter. It will remain as the most advanced US Navy fighter, at least until the JSF is produced in large enough numbers to replace the S-Hornet's sometime after the end of this decade.
Of course, that will be a decade or more down the line, so the Hornet will be nearing obscelesence anyway.
Frankly, I believe that the first operational UCAV will be nearing operational status about the time that the JSF is integrated into the fleet, and will probably be as sophisticated in some ways as the JSF.

F-15 of course

Currently the most advanced and most effective Fighter deployed in stregth in USAF inventory is the F-15C (Air to Air) and F-15E (multirole). F-22As are just becoming operational and USAF is in the process of training their pilots and support crews, F-22 will gradually replace the Eagle in 5 to 10 years in all of its roles.

The US Navy, (sadly to us F-14 fans) is in the process of retiring their F-14s mostly due to the aging of the airframes and the cost of maintanance they represented. F/A-18Fs Super Hornets are filling their role (with a much lower top speed but better systems, reliability, maintainability and low observables) F/A-18Es are replacing the older F/A-18Cs and As still in the Navy and Marines. F/A-18Gs (an advanced ECM platform) will replace EA-6Bs Prowlers in the ECM role. So it's becoming a Hornet Navy, which I think is a very wise move:cool:

As Wild Weasel says, F-35 and UCAVs are coming "soon" But I think UCAVs will be better suited for Air to Ground roles than for Air to Air, so at least the first generation of UCAVS will not figure as the best fighter.

Cheers! :dbanana
