if all in this article is true. seems like wrong move to limit the new aircraft carrier class in such a way. Does anyone know if this once built would it even be realistic to retrofit back to EMALS. Im sure that with the life span of carries its a decision that the navy could regret if say the chines get it working for there next round of carrier development, its a significant advantage adding both combat capablity and surviablity.

I would think the cost to revert back to steam would be huge so it won't happen. His impeachment has a higher probability.

that may be true but this is the u.s military were talking about. Im fairly sure there not in the habit of ignoring a presidential order. Well im sure they will delay the actual pulling out of EMALS. I dont feel like as of right now they will be continuing work on it. Unless im wrong as its only really a guess the carriers being built now will be changed and work on EMALS is halted?

Just on a side note man looking at things long term Trump seems to have done alot to weaken the whole "pivot to Asia"

We've seen this play out before. Trump shoots his mouth off, saner heads step in to school him and he finds a way to claim credit for 'fixing' EMALS.
