Upgrade for Battle Tanks

What do you mean - the technical capacity to upgrade them from the technical point of view (e.g. does the company have an upgrade solution which can be used for the T-72) or the logictical capacity (can the company handle the weight and create parts for upgrading a T-72)?

Actually,I'm looking for a company that has both the technical and logitical capacity to upgrage the T72,T52 and Vickers mk3.

T-52? You don't mean T-55 do you?

Anyway, I've never heard of a company that does all of those vehicles, the closest with a demonstrably successful track (no-pun intended) record is probably Nimda Pty Ltd in Israel.

As only a handful of countries bought the Vickers Mk3, I would guess that the best people to perform an upgrade would be Vickers. As for the T-54/55 and T-72, the best option, as indicated by ADMk2, would be NIMDA but, several other companies, such as ZTS Martin and KMDB would probably also be able to perform an upgrade, as would KBP Tula. As for a company that can upgrade all 3 MBTs you mentioned, apart from NIMBA, probably a few others can also do it, assuming the customer was willing to give it a go and the delivery schedule was not tight.

Vickers? A bit late for that.

The only customers were Nigeria & Kenya. I can imagine that either or both could be in the market for a refurbishment & upgrade of their fleets. The logical firm to approach would first of all, of course, be BAe Systems, followed by anyone who's in the business of upgrading 3rd party tanks.

If Kenya and Nigeria still have the Vickers in service they might be able to interest BAE Land Systems OMC in South Africa to do an upgrade.
They have experience with several upgrades of the SA Army's Centurion/Olifant MBTs and other armour systems too.

I thought the original question is kind of weird? First of all, almost any company in the tank production business could be able to upgrade any tank with the correct specifications and/or funding. It all depends on the customer's upgrade requirements whether it is doable or not? However with enough money and incentives, any tank can be upgradable to any type of specifications! The resulting tank configuration may not look like the original? LOL.

True, but in this case I think Dodger67 has hit on the ideal firm. And after them, there's a long list of companies which could do the job, in Europe, Asia, & the Americas.

BTW Kuwait had them in service - they saw some action against Iraq.
The survivors were not returned to service after Desert Storm.

IIRC that was the Mk 1, not the Mk 3. Same basic tank, of course, & I don't know if the Kuwaitis had improved theirs.

Vickers Mk. 1 is probably easier to upgrade, since the flat-sided welded turret should allow easier integration of special armour than a rounded cast steel turret.

I don't think that it is necessary to have all capabilites to produce new tanks. Upgrades are sometimes also marketed by companies which do not produce their own vehicles, but only do overhauling. When the armour and firepower is the only thing that should be imporved, less heavy work is required. A good designed 120 mm gun (whereas good mean small not powerfull) can be fitted in the same place where normally a 100/105 mm tank gun is used. Applique composite armour or ERA can be mounted on tanks without redesigning anything. Engines are a more delicate topic, and when transmissions, suspensions and other stuff comes into the upgrade, then only very few companies can do the upgrades.

MBTs upgrade

Does anyone know which companies can upgrade the Vickers MK3,T52 and T72 battle tanks?
There's a russian bureau, called KMDB, that does a fine job in upgrading old MBTs, and infantry fighting vehicles, bringing their capabilities to very close of today's MBTs and IFVs capabilities.:sniper

KMDB is the Kharkov Morozov Design Building bureau that is based in the Ukraine.
They are the people who made/make the T-80 and the T-84.

Thanks, pal. Forgive my mistake. But this firm does a fine job in modernizations, in IFVs or MBTs, doesn't matter from what country came the armored vehicle or MBT, bringing it to the today's patterns.
