I'm trying to build up a ToE of the D/F Brigade from publicly available (!) sources, however i'm stumbling somewhat.

Just think it would be interesting to actually tie this down to solid numbers, as a representation of a EU Battlegroup Brigade Combat Team.

I've marked the points where i'm getting problems as "(?)" or similar.

OrBat & ToE:

1. Brigade Staff Coy (mixed) (?)

2. Brigade Engineer Coy: PzPiKp 550 (German) (6x Fuchs, 4x Biber, 8x Skorpion, 3x Keiler, 3x Dachs ?)

3. Brigade Support Btl: BCS (mixed)
....a) Coy Staff (?)
....b) Coy Maintenance (2x FKM, 2x Bergepanzer)
....c) Coy Logistics (?)
....d) Coy Transport (20x Multi A1)
....e) Coy Staff Administration/Support (?)

4. Infantry Btl: JgBtl 292 (German)
....a) Coy Staff/Logistics (9x Fuchs ?)
....b) Coy Infantry (15x Fuchs, 3x Milan, 1x 40mm GMG ?)
....c) Coy Infantry (15x Fuchs, 3x Milan, 1x 40mm GMG ?)
....d) Coy Infantry (15x Fuchs, 3x Milan, 1x 40mm GMG ?)
....e) Coy Fire Support (2x Wiesel FO, 6x Wiesel MK20, 6x Wiesel TOW, 8x towed 120mm)

5. Infantry Btl: 110e RI (French)
....a) Coy Staff/Logistics (12x VAB APC, 2x VBL, 4x .50cal HMG)
....b) Coy Infantry (13x VAB APC, 1x VAB Milan, 1x VAB 20mm, 1x VBL, 1x Milan Team, 1x .50cal HMG)
....c) Coy Infantry (13x VAB APC, 1x VAB Milan, 1x VAB 20mm, 1x VBL, 1x Milan Team, 1x .50cal HMG)
....d) Coy Infantry (13x VAB APC, 1x VAB Milan, 1x VAB 20mm, 1x VBL, 1x Milan Team, 1x .50cal HMG)
....e) Coy Fire Support (3x VAB APC, 3x VAB Milan, 6x VTM 120 SP, 13x VBL, 2x VBL Milan, 6x towed 81mm)

6. Anti-Tank/Recon Btl: 3eme RH (French)
....a) Sq Staff/Logistics (10x VAB APC, 3x VAB 20mm, 3x VBL)
....b) Sq Light Tank (3x VAB APC, 10x VBL, 12x AMX-10RC)
....c) Sq Light Tank (3x VAB APC, 10x VBL, 12x AMX-10RC)
....d) Sq Light Tank (3x VAB APC, 10x VBL, 12x AMX-10RC)
....e) Sq Anti-Tank/Recon (2 VAB APC, 17 VBL, 16 VBL Milan)

7. Mixed Artillery Btl: ArtBtl 295 (German)
....a) Btty Staff/Logistics (1x COBRA, 1x ATMAS, 4x Fennek AO, 2x Büffel ?)
....b) Btty Tube Artillery (8x PzH 2000, 9x M113 ?)
....c) Btty Tube Artillery (8x PzH 2000, 9x M113 ?)
....d) Btty Rocket Artillery (1x ARES, 8x MARS ?)
....e) Btty Drone Recon (5x KZO ?)

I'm pretty much looking for rough ToEs for all the units i marked as above. I know some rough stuff about e.g. JgBtl 292 of course, but no exact numbers (i know e.g. the Btl has 54 Fuchs, but not how that ties into the units - should be anywhere from 10 to 14 per combat coy plus some in the others?). The Eng Coy would probably have some Fuchs too iirc. I have no idea of the composition of forward observers within ArtBtl 295 either, for example, except that they have the only four Fennek AO of the Bundeswehr.

edit: estimates for JgBtl 292 added in, some other stuff too.

To make this thread a bit less boring, a little look at the upgrades planned for this brigade in the near future:

  • Full IdZ integration in JgBtl 292 (partway achieved)
  • Full FELIN integration in 110eme RI (planned: 2010)
  • All Fuchs APC to be replaced by GTK Boxer APC (72 ordered, JgBtl 292 will be the primary unit equipped with these, along with JgRgt 1)
  • 40mm GMG (on Wolf) in the same unit likely to be dropped at the same time (as the Boxer will mount it)
  • KZO drone introduction as recon and aerial forward observer for the artillery, one "half" system with 5 drones and one control center
  • German 120mm mortars (on Wolf) to be replaced by Wiesel 2 based 120mm SP mortars (when funded)
  • GMLRS missiles for MARS (version 1: SmArt anti-tank bomblet, version 2: unitary APHE-FRAG)
  • P4 light trucks in French units to be largely replaced by Gavial armored cars
  • Wolf in German units to be largely replaced by GFF1 armored cars (potentially a version of Gavial)
  • partly: upgrade of Multi A1 to Multi A3 in transport coy
  • bridgelayers: Biber (Leo 1 chassis) to be replaced by PSB 2 (Leo 2)

Btw: The VAB - despite similar age as the Fuchs - are supposed to stay in service until 2025.

Any info on the Gavial?

Also, what is the difference between the Multi A1 and A3? And A2 too for that matter?

It's pretty much a heavily uparmored jeep. In France better known as the Panhard A4 AVL, Gavial is the export designation.

http://www.deagel.com/Tactical-Vehicles/A4-AVL_a000145001.aspx

France has ordered about 300 so far (out of a requirement for about 1,000).
Germany has a requirement for about 2,200, with Gavial so far the most likely contender to make it (out of a total GFF1 requirement of about 4,000, partly filled by already-ordered Mungo and Wiesel 2 in other roles).

There are currently about ... 200 i'd say... Peugeot P4 and Wolf in the brigade

Hmm, i've never seen any mention of an A2 actually - guess they skipped it.

The A1 is a heavy (15-ton payload) armored truck introduced in the mid/late 90s. It features a quick-load "multi-functional" pallet system for the payload (hence the name), and, for deployments, can be uparmored somewhat.

The A3 (aka Multi 2) is a complete redesign of the A1:
- new, stronger powerpack
- slightly longer cabin allowing sleeping arrangements for two soldiers
- far higher mine protection/resistance (Army states higher than Leo 2A6!)
- more armour (Level 3 + artillery fragments) in uparmored FSA version
- NBC-protected cabin
- remote-controlled overhead weapon station (with MG)
