Hi Berkut.
Most likely the 30SM will get the AL-31FP engine version(AL-31FM1) rated 13.500kgf.
Sinse i have yet to see any contract being signed with UMPO/SATURN for new deliveries of 117S engines..
They should have signed it months ago if such was the case.
And the two first SM30 are allready test flying.

Wouldn't it be cool if Su-30SM got the Salut AL-31FM2 engines rated 14.300kgf.
But i doubt it. I think the AL-31FM2 is still in the prossess of being certified.

I could be wrong though, but as in everything it is cost and funding related.
And i have a 'feel' that the 30SM are somewhat more "off the shelf".
The 117S engines are more costly, so is most other system in the Su-35S.

Anyway, time will show which Radar and Engines the 30SM will get.

Wow that would be impressive!
I read somewhere that the SU 30 SM will be getting SU 35 Radar obsorbing materials and will also feature some minor redesighn to keep it smaller in the sky

Superhornet Competitor maybe???

Superhornet Competitor maybe???
You mean in the Malaysian tender? Not likely. They already have an MKM. If they can offer a modernized variant of that, it will be the strongest competitor they can present.

U mean the 30SM?
Not sure, most likely it will be an upgraded BARS, but not AESA.

I still think AESA is some time away, and too early for VVS 30SM.
Its more realisticly to see AESA radar on the super MKI, which will be delivered after the VVS Su-30SM deal.. anyway, just my 0.02$

Oh..I thought it was "SS" because when I read an article about it, they kept calling the upgrade/variant "Super Suikhoi"

There is definately Room for an AESA variant. Even the Mig 35 has an AESA!
Surely the SU 30 SM SS [haha] will feature one???

Does anyone know of a site with info on the SM 30?
And yes I agree... SU 30 SM should become a direct competitor to land based hornets!

There is room for an AESA upgrade for all Flankers. However production Su-30SM aircraft will not, and do not, have it. They might get it in the future.
