Wow that would be impressive!Hi Berkut.
Most likely the 30SM will get the AL-31FP engine version(AL-31FM1) rated 13.500kgf.
Sinse i have yet to see any contract being signed with UMPO/SATURN for new deliveries of 117S engines..
They should have signed it months ago if such was the case.
And the two first SM30 are allready test flying.
Wouldn't it be cool if Su-30SM got the Salut AL-31FM2 engines.
But i doubt it. I think the AL-31FM2 is still in the prossess of being setrified.
I could be wrong though, but as in everything it is cost and funding related.
And i have a 'feel' that the 30SM are somewhat more "off the shelf".
The 117S are more costly, so is most other system in the Su-35S.
Anyway, time will show which Radar and Engines the 30SM will get.
You mean in the Malaysian tender? Not likely. They already have an MKM. If they can offer a modernized variant of that, it will be the strongest competitor they can present.Superhornet Competitor maybe???
Oh..I thought it was "SS" because when I read an article about it, they kept calling the upgrade/variant "Super Suikhoi"U mean the 30SM?
Not sure, most likely it will be an upgraded BARS, but not AESA.
I still think AESA is some time away, and too early for VVS 30SM.
Its more realisticly to see AESA radar on the super MKI, which will be delivered after the VVS Su-30SM deal.. anyway, just my 0.02$
