Status of Gal class submarines?

After they decommissioned, Israel unsuccessfully tried to sell the three Gal class submarines to Malaysia; since then they have been in mothballs in Haifa. However, I've heard that they are now being modernized and returned to service, and if I remember correctly, in 2005 there was a photo floating around showing two of the three being loaded into what appeared to be a flo-flo dockship.

Has anybody else heard anything about this?

They are now in Germany, and no work is underway to modernize them or return them to service. Most likely they'll be demolished. By the way, source is Jane's 2006/07. There is a picture of 2 of the Gal-s next to German Type206 (I believe in Kiel, but I'm not 100% sure about the city).

cheers

im sorry waylander! no insult was intended. The english language is a bit more flexible than most, aussies, kiwis and even poms(english) really missuse most words that could used to describe anything! here bugger can mean many different things ....if you brake something, then the thing is "buggered". If you hit your thumb with a hammer you might say" bugger!", if you your friend hits his thumb with a hammer, you might call him a" silly bugger," if you lose your own car keys you might say" buggered if i know where my keys are!" if you find them you might say "well ill be buggered!" and yes,it can mean sex in the wrong hole to,but rarely used this way....its really used among friends and is socially acceptible,in australia anyway, not really used to insult anyone, stronger words are used. sorry if i offended you mate!;)

Ok. no problem.
I thought that you did not mean it the way it is described in my dictionary. Because of this I asked. :)

But another question. Why are you sorry about me living there?

Aaaah. :D

Luckily HDW is not positioned in a industrial area.
It is the only big company in this area. The rest of the area is inner city and living areas as well as the ferry harbor and a naval base not far away.
I'm originally from Berlin so Kiel is rather small for me. :D
