As for as I know the M110 is only for the Army replacing the M24 and M14/21. Its not a replacement for the M16 becasue the M110 and M16 are for two completly different roles. It would be nice if they had both .308 and .300WM or .338LM for the M110. That way Army snipers can chose which round they like best. They did the same thing with the M24 so why not the M110?I've read reports of marine snipers using the SR-25/M110 (no need to carry an M16) in Iraq but I don't think it was a formal replacement.
There appears to be two schools at the moment. A/ accurate semi-auto (US Army) B/ bigger round eg. 300WM or .338LM (UK)
If I had to bet the marines might go big. They like to see themsleves as traditionalist.

The USMC has been playing around with a .338LM Sako TRG-42.
