SINGAPORE : Singapore's Ministry of Defence has acquired 12 F-15SG fighter aircraft from Boeing.
The F-15SG is the most advanced variant of the F-15 and will operate as the Republic of Singapore Air Forces' next generation multi-role fighter jet.
They will be equipped with sophisticated avionics and weapons systems.
The contract provides an option for the acquisition of another eight aircraft at a later date.
The F-15SG will replace the A-4SU Skyhawks, which have been retired.
The 12 aircraft are expected to be delivered in 2008 or 2009.
In September, Boeing beat out French plane maker Dassault
for the deal, valued at more than $1 billion. - CNA /ct
