S-400 for Turkey?

Just read this lenta.ru article claiming that Turkey has selected the S-400 system for the SAM tender. The statement comes from Anatoliy Astyonov, who is head of the Rosoboroneksport delegation at IDEF-2009 in Istanbul.

However... Belarus and Kazakhstan both want to purchase the system as well. Currently the production line is almost entirely bought out by our own MoD. So delivery timetables would look very strange indeed.

Also, no contract has been signed. All we have is a statement of intent from Turkey, according to a Russian source. Can anyone confirm this info?

Well, if this is true, that the Russians are willing to sell their newest SAM to the Turks, then they seem much more like Americans who are feeding both Greeks and Turks with the same stuff (as the system was/is allegedly considered by the Greeks).
There were reports that Turkey was intending to procure the S-300P either from Belarus or Ukraine but only for training purposes (as the Greeks operate the system in Crete) but this didn't materialize so far.

IMHO, I don't see it happening (Turkey-one of the main US allies-acquiring S-400) as the system is supposed to represent the mainstay of the Russian PVO for decades to come.

Well keep in mind that Turkey would get export version of S-400.
Only CSTO countries can pay to get original.

You already have an S-300. So it wouldn't be out of bounds to expect an S-400 within some time period.

Wouldn't Turkey have to get some of the construction of the S-400's to accept such a deal? I thought Turkey has offsets built into all arms purchases? Would Russia share the tech side in building it with a NATO country?

I heard about potential Mi-28, but not the rest. As for sharing tech... I'm not sure what the offset agreements would involve. Lets wait until we see a contract. So far this seems to be a rumor.

And an arms-tass article that is far more ambiguous, but probably more realistic.

http://arms-tass.su/?page=article&aid=70067&cid=25

It claims that there is an ongoing dialogue, and it's being worked through not only bilaterally with Turkey, but through the Russia-Nato line in general. The S-400 is not mentioned specifically, but the reference to not only anti-aircraft, but anti-missile complexes most likely indicates either the S-300 or S-400.

It says that a decision is being made (as opposed to the previous article which claimed it had already been made).

They've already talked about buying Mi-28, Ka-52, T-90S
they only speak but do nothing =)
Not a chance. Turks are getting T-129 and TUHP 149, also they will have their own battle tank based on Korean tech.

These "talks" are just to fill pages on magazines and make people have flamy debates on forums :p:
