Hello all,

I have recenty discharged to complete an apprenticeship, however it was not enjoyable for me and did not work out. My discharge date was feb 2012. Before leaving the army I was a fully qualified Cpl, sub 4 qualified. Does anyone know if I wanted to re-enlist, whether I would have to start from scratch and go to kapooka? Are there cases where they allow you to bypass kapooka as long as you pass ur medicals/BFA etc?

Depends on how long you served before discharge, how long you have have been discharged for. I did 3 years, discharged, stayed out for 14 months, then walked back in as if I had been on leave without pay. That was my experience anyway.(after medical, fitness tests and interveiws)

Thanks for the info :) I was in four and half years, I've Been discharged since feb this year...didn't last long on civi st before I wanted back in. Hope I can, don't care about keeping rank, just don't want to have to repeat kapooka. I guess I would though if it came down to it, miss army life.

Join the reserves in the meantime if it is going to take awhile to keep in the loop, proof of continuity of training and so forth, not that six months will probably really annoy them so long as you have been keeping fit.
