To the best of my knowledge, TPS-43 radars are earlier generation air surveillance radar systems. The '70' series are newer generation. The RAAF has just purchased 4x TPS-77 series radar's from Lockheed Martin for it's tactical air defence system requirements (project Vigilaire). TPS-77 is made by LM. TPS-78 is made by Northrop Grumman.

The main differences are the fact that they are manufactured by different companies. You can google all those radars and find out quite a bit of info. The only thing is this are publicly releaseable data. You ARE NOT going to find out classified data on these systems on the web. Period.

AD, is this an area of interest for you? Do you know much about the pstars system? http://www.lockheedmartin.com/wms/findPage.do?dsp=fec&ci=11758&rsbci=0&fti=112&ti=0&sc=400&jsi=false Is there a 'fusion' of data from all these systems happening somewhere? ie TPS-77 + PSTARS etc or is this part of the "NCW project"? rb

Not really. Not anymore than I'm interested in all aspects of Defence, particularly Australian...

I'd imagine that there is some networking capability between the 2, particularly through the CAOC's (combined air operations centres) they setup to run air defence in this country, for ex's, ops etc, despite the fact that the PSTAR's are operated by Army and the TPS-117 operated by Airforce...
