Question about vf-103 Logo

Hi guys,
I am interested in aicraft carriers and aircrafts in general.
Especially the history of the carrier wings is very interesting.

Maybe someone can help me finding the meaning of one of the carrier wings logos.
The vf-103 "Jolly rogers" have the skull and bones as logo (or insignia) like the vf-84 had before.
But on the inside of the tail wings on a f-14 is another different logo which i could also find on the outside tail wings of F-4s from the sixties.

I mean this one:
View attachment 4629

It is obviously a lightning... over... whatever

Does anyone know what this logo represents ?

Thanks in advance!

Current Air Wing codes and their Carriers:
AA -- CVW 17 -- USS Carl Vinson
AB -- CVW 1 -- USS Enterprise
AC -- CVW 3 -- USS Harry Truman
AG -- CVW 7 -- USS Dwight D Eisenhower
AJ -- CVW 8 -- USS George HW Bush
NE -- CVW 2 -- USS Abraham Lincoln
NF -- CVW 5 -- USS George Washington
NG -- CVW 9 -- USS John C Stennis
NH -- CVW 11 -- USS Nimitz
NK -- CVW 14 -- USS Ronald Reagan

Squadrons are often rotated between Wings, and Wings are sometimes rotated between Carriers. So comparing the Squadron, Wing and Carrier markings can nail down specific timeframes for a aircraft when it appears in a photo.
