P-8 question

I know P-3/P-8's are designed to patrol the of oceans to monitor and, if necessary, hunt down and kill enemy surface vessels and submarines. How effective is there radar for picking up fighter size targets. The below link says the P-8 can operate over land as well. I wanted know if an Island nation could get away with buying the just the P-8 and have it carry out both duties, ocean patrol & AWACS?

Like the Orion, the P-8 also will be capable of conducting surveillance operations over land.

I don't think the P-8 would be very effective in the AEW role. I don't know how capable the radar is, but I believe it's aligned downwards, for surface search.

I would expect the P-8 - like other MPAs - to be quite good at overland surveillance (the RAF has using the Nimrod in this role over Afghanistan very effectively), but I wouldn't want to risk one close to hostile air defences.

[Edit]
I found a company blurb about the radar - Raytheon AN/APY-10

Radar

Thanks swerve for the radar link very capable radar. I kind of had a feeling it wouldn't be great for spotting aircraft just kind of wanted to know if it could do it. I wonder if the P-8 was say at 38,000 feet and two war ships were ten miles apart and one fired a anti-ship missile at the other, I would like to think this aircraft radar's would pick it up. I look through the link you attached but didn't see it could pick up anti-ship missiles. Maybe IR devices on board the P-8 could pick up a anti-ship missile?
