Yep it's true - and a domestic incident! Surprised it hasn't popped up yet on the forum! Some nutter went balistic a week back & shot 3 police & his neighbour (1 police officer dead).

After holding out in his house with a formidable arsenal the Army assisted Police with 2 LAV's - both of which entered the property to retrieve the policemans body (done using a bomb disposal robot). LAV's took fire (although obviously not allowed to retur it in a civvy incident).

Good video here... can see the LAV on the road to the left at 2min.19secs in...

If the government review concludes the NZ Army holds too many NZLAVs maybe the police may require some? If the Hawkes Bay constabulary needs 2, then based on population Auckland 20, Wellington 6, Christchurch 7, Dunedin 4 and 3 in a national pool as required. (please don't take me seriously)

will be interesting to see if they ever take shots fired in anger again!, I fell that NZ does have a need for an APC but the question is how many do we need. I think we should never have purchased the numbers that we did, but also included some tracked vehicles. Ive been hearing very much the same thing from the tankies when I was in waiurou last

God rest the dead Policeman and help his family. Our first thoughts should be with them.
