NZ air force pilot entry

Hi, my names Brett, im 23 :D

Currently I am in my 5th year as a NZ police constable.....and I am sick of it, I've decided breaking up P-fuelled fights and being constantly verbally abused and disrespected by the community just is'nt very rewarding :flaming

I am also in the territorial army,(rifleman) and have been for about 4 years, I really enjoy it to.

Anyway, I have always dreamed of being a pilot in the RNZAF. But I spose I've been afraid of being rejected. But now I've decided to apply, now that I've got a few civilian flying hours under my belt, and various other things that may help me with enlistment.

I have just one quick question, if you apply and you get rejected, can you re-apply in the next enlistment, giving you more chance of getting accepted? Like you can do in the army? (if you meet all requirements, of course, which is another story altogether) This question is probably relevant in all AF's.

Thanks, this site looks very informative, by the way :)

G'day Brett,

I have no idea about RNZAF selection ... I can only assume that you're allowed a second crack. That is, unless you failed due to something that is 'unfixable' (only 1 leg, blind, etc). Don't quote me.

Best of luck.

Hi Brett

sorry to hear about your time as a police officer people just seem to have lost the respect they used to have for the boy's in blue :( . But it may also work in your favour as the exprience you gained as a cop should make you a very attractive applacant for RNZAF. and if you dont get in the first time i cant see the airforce not allowing you to try again, it just would'nt be very productive in a recruiting sence to turn away perfectly good recruits just because they did'nt get in the first time

good luck:D

Good luck Brett

Having police training and territorial training should make you an ideal AF candidate. But they do allow second tries, I got in on first go, and I was trying straight from school. If you want to be pilot or aircrew get some flying experience with local air club, helped me.

hi brett. sick of writing crappy 258's and endless job sheets huh$?

i perfed in 2004 at 36yrs old as a s/sgt after 15 years. applied for rnzaf, got in and was about to go to ohakea when family needs outweighed my needs, (family was one of the main reasons i left the police in the first place) so sadly i had to pull out.

stay focussed, stay positive, don't slag off the police, make sure it is clear that you are re-careering to better yourself, challenge yourself, not because you are disillusioned with the hierachical depresive insidious police culture.

now i don't actually think like that, and even if you do, you should either change your way of thinking, or at least change your way of presenting....

my 0.02c...
