Nowadays, Indonesian's navy is gradually declining. On the other hand, non traditional threat, for example, illegal fishing, smuggling, and piracy has being increase, while China, Singapore, and Malaysia still become potential threat to the count.

I have two questions
(1) Do you know specific and detailed information about Indonesian's navy! I hope you could give me from trusted and reliable source.
(2) What is the best proposal for Indonesian's Navy?
(3) Do you think Indonesia Navy need Airborne Early Warning and Control system?
(4) What kind of specific technological improvement that the navy needs?
(5) Do you think the navy should adapt Information Technology Improvement?

Thanks for your inputs, advise, and opinion!
;)

I don't know much, but just judging from the georgraphy, it would need many small to medium sized ships to patrol the large territory. AEW would be nice, but I don't know how necessary it is given that you seem to be interested in dealing with non-traditional threats.

That's five questions :)
There's a blogspot from this guy dsofandi http://www.alutsista.blogspot.com/ that compile a lot of Indonesian Armed Forces related info and news. However mostly in Bahasa. If you do not have problem with bahasa, you can take a look on this blogspot.

Indonesian Navy main fleet:
6 Van Speijk Frigates (Armed with Harpoon)
3 Fatahila Light Frigates (Armed with Exocet MM 38)
1 ex Yugoslav Training Frigates - Ki Hajar Dewantara (Armed with Exocet)
4 Sigma Light Frigates/Corvetes (Armed with Exocet MM 40)
2 Type 209 Submarines.
All Sigma, Van Speijk and 1 Fatahilla have Helo facilities. 3 British Tribal and 4 US Claud Jones Frigates already taken from active service.
Patrol Force
16 Parchim Corvetes (mostly for ASW with torpedoes and RBU)
12 FPB 57 ( 4 of them will be armed with Chinese Missiles)

Total in paper the Navy have close to 140 ships but only 70% operational ready. In paper it's a balanced Brown water - Green water navy, but need a lot of replacement.

After Sigma, the new procurements mostly in Local Build patrol boats (around 35 meter - 45 meters). The Navy planed to get new locally build Light Frigates/Corvetes of 105 meters class. Seems the lates info in here indicated it will be enlarged Dutch Sigma design (although Fincantinieri design still in the run). The contract plan in June for I Frigates/Large Corvetes and 1 Submarine. The Link http://jurnalnasional.com/?med=Kora...k=&id=86228&detail=Politik - Hukum - Keamanan is in Bahasa.

The Submarine seems will be decided between Russian or German. The Navy seems does not want offer from South Korea, because they only submitted another 209 which wont significantly improved from existing 209.
The german offer 214, while the russian offer Kilo or Amur.

The current administrations wants as much as possible ToT, Thus the new frigates will be build locally, so does the last batch of planned new submarines. All new Sigma already incorporated modern CIC facilities and data link capabilities. This will become standard for new Frigates. The planned for new frigates is to replace Tribal and Van Speijk and Fatahilla ( 12 in plan) while the claud jones already being replaced by Sigma. Parchim being planned to be replaced by locally build FPB 60 (modified FPB 57).

All back off course with the availability of Funding.

The best proposal for Indonesian Navy is to build Green Water Navy. We can not/afford building Blue Water Navy, but we try to evolve from current Littoral/Brown Water Navy. Green Water NAvy basiccaly what we have in Soekarno era in the 60's. We don't see Singapore and Malaysia as threats, but we need to become technologically at par with them and Thailand.
Pirates is much down, especially after Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore conduct regular joint operations in Malaca straits and off course after rebellion in ACeh being paciefied.

Navy do not have plan for AeW aircraft, but already have MPA aircraft in the form of Casa 212. Larger MPA like CN 235 and Boeing 737 belong to Air Force.
Under Airforce plan untill 2014, no AeW is being planned, the electronic Intelegence Squadron being build is for MPA.
Although Airforce planned to have 1 AeW and 1 EW sqs between 2014 - 2025.

According to Damen, the builder of the Sigma corvettes, Indonesia want another 20 corvettes that will be slightly larger than the current Sigmas. Multiple shipyards have offered a design to Indonesia. It always was the intention of the government to build these new corvettes in Indonesia, but it is currently unclear where they will be build, because of the financial situation at PT Pals in Surabaya (the intended builder).

...
According to Royal Schelde sources, the corvette`s armament includes 2x4 Mistral Tetral antiaircraft guided missiles, four surface Exocet guided missiles, one front-deck 76 mm Oto Melara cannon, 20-mm cannons of the same type on its left and right side, two torpedo launchers, a Thales Tacticos computerized armament control system, three-dimensional radar, Lirod Mk search radar, two Thales Kinglip active-passive sonars, Thales DR3000 and Terma SKWS attack deflecting systems.

Well if you look this lattest model for the proposed light frigates/corvetes, then it' s follow Schelde Sigma design
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_1XZMX_E0z...gTd-i0/s1600-h/Guided+Missile+Escort+105M.jpg

However this model still in run, and it's clearly show Fincantieri design
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1XZMX_E0z...AAfU/yC1K2HUDjRc/s1600-h/corvert_nasional.jpg

Both links from Defender magazines and alusista blogspot.

Schelde design is 105 meters, while fincantieri ones is 104 meters. Schelde based on Sigma, and Fincantineries from Comamdante. Both heavilly enlarged since current sigma only 91 meters and commandante only 89 meters.

The 20 numbers actually coming from program before 1998 Asian Financial Crisis and the down of Soeharto. If the info correct that time PAL also wants to team up with Fincantieri but the design at that time will be based on Altigilieri class.
20 is the aim, but realistically it will be hard to achieved. That's why I only put 12 as the aim which according from Min-Def sources is more achievable.

Found it in Fincantieri site, this seems what they submit to PAL for contender in Indonesian new Light Frigates/Corvetes projects. Will be interested (if on scheduled) in June to see who's winning, This design or Dutch ones.

Can not find reliable sources on that. Only in some interview the head of Min-Def procurements and technological intergration Major General Sjafrie Sjamsudin has mentioned USD 300 - 400 mio for a submarine and up to USD 500 mio for Light Frigates (call in here Missiles Destroyer Escort).

Excact numbers will be out if the schedduled first order for Light Frigates and Sumbmarines will come out as planned in June or July.
