CC - Air Izmir Exercise
NATO AIR MEET 2004 (NAM 04)
NATO’s live-flying exercise NATO Air Meet 04 (NAM 04) will take place during the period 04-16 September 2004, with live flying between 06-10 and 13-16 September 2004.
The Exercise will be conducted by Component Command Air Headquarters, Izmir (CC Air HQ, Izmir), and will be hosted by Turkey. It involves air forces from Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America; and as observing nations Estonia and Lithuania.
Participating aircraft will operate from 3rd Main Jet Base (MJB) Konya and from Incirlik Air Base, Turkey.
NAM 04 is designed to exercise air forces in tactical air operations. It will focus on practicing and evaluating tactics for the use of composite air operations, with emphasis on the suppression of enemy air defences and electronic warfare. It will also serve to maximise the exchange of ideas, and promote mutual understanding, confidence and co-operation between participating air forces.
The exercise area will be limited to Turkey and will involve more than 100 different aircraft, including tanker and airborne early warning aircraft and ground-based air defence systems. No exercise flying will take place on the weekends. Flying will take place during daytime only.
