i'd like to hear some advice and experience from those who served or has the knowledge in this field. the TDM website doesn't tell much.

i'm 22 this year with chinese ethnic. i'm currently studying my final semester of bachelor of applied multimedia in australia. if i'm not going to study masters, i'll go home, take a job to gain experience and try my own business down the track.

i'm really interested in joining the army to push myself physically and mentally. and cast myself as a stronger person physically and mentally. i'm not thinking of taking military as fulltime career becoz the pay is low, and i dont think my parents want to see me joining the army after spending so much time and money for my studies. so i guess army reserve is a good option for me. it might give me something fresh after spending months in office.

i think the degree (multimedia) i get will not get me to higher officer ranks or benefits, will it?

how is it like in the army? especially for chinese? since it is something dominated by bumiputras

what if i decide to study my masters, can i do the 1 month recruit training (latihan rekrut) during my holidays and move on with my studies?

usually when are the intakes for recruit training?

is the training for army reserve as rigorous as fulltime army? it sounds easier to me.

wow, i've got so many questions and many more. so i'll appreciate any advice/experience. cheers

dude,

with a degree, if you join the army your rank will be (if i'm not mistaken) leftenant while training and captain after finishing your training.

the reserve ie wataniah pays 2.50 per hour (as of my time of serving :) ). But bus rides tickets are claimable. yay! of course i was just a private, not sure if higher ranks get's higher pay, maybe renjer can answer this

training wise? hmmm by default the reserve has less physical requirement to join but physical training will push you. that's for sure
