Just reading the piece about the recent missions being flown by A10's and other sorties in Afghanistan. While I can understand how you can define and quantify an airstrike against a specified target, how does a JTAC declare a "show of force" mission a success - is it simply no contact for the ground troops during that mission period?
Also if the ground elements come under contact but no aircraft are tasked to respond does the JTAC then declare this as a "mission failure"?
