Can anyone tell me about this microwave technology that India ,US, Russia etc are developing..is it of significant concern and if Russia develops it, will China get it to reverse engineer.

india is planning to collaborate with the russians in the developement of microwave technology for defence applications, however the problem is that the russian systems do not match indian requirements, indian are also developing their kali10000 systems(this systems is to be mounted on an il76 platform and is to be used to shoot down incoming enemy missiles and aircrafts),however there are problems in trying to reduce the weight of this system from 10tons to 1 ton while retaining the power output.kali by the way stands for kilo ampere linear injector.

the russain had unvieled two weapons known as ranet-e and rosa-e designed to be launched from artillery guns and rockets ,these weapons are capable of destroying all electronic weapons withing their zone of influence by emitting high energy microwaves.

Could you point us to more information on this system... sounds interesting.

Would'nt these two weapons work on the same principle as a nuclear emp pulse, and if so could'nt the defencesive systems in use be altered to block or sidetrack the worst effects of them.

Wouldn't the equipment have to be enclosed by a Faraday cage?

No doubts that this technology will be used in the future for offensive purposes, my problem would be the health factors, I think im right in saying this type of high powered microwave would produce variable amounts of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.

I'm going a little off track here, but planes such as the B52 were proofed against EMP I had a picture of a B52 sitting on a large wooden structure being tested. Were the planes surrounded by a Faraday cage in the way they were built, shape or were measures retrofitted later

to actually use a microwave weapon will require huge amounts of energy, will the direction of the wave hit only the intended target??
