Lockhead-Martin has decided to participate in Pakistan's defence show program IDEAS. The show is beeing put on since 2 years. Many western countries have been participating since than. Even some USA companies aswell but it is for the 1st time that a Giant of Defence (Air Defence) is participating in the show.

:lol a good joke indeed, they're not going there to sell anything to Pakistan armed forces but they are going there to advertise there Products to the Arabs countries delegations and other reliable Friends of Pakistan who would visit the show. i guess they have alot to offer Pak as-well like c4i technology and other non too weapon related and IT technologies.

Anything that wouldnt effect our armed forces in case of international sanctions can be purchased from Lockheed Martin. I doubt they would have anything worthwile to offer since their products come in packages and yes it might be just another cheap advertisment place for them.

Best thing to acquire from them are more F-16's and upgrades for the one's we already have since we have become pretty good at maintaining them ourselves.

So it all depends pretty much on what they have to offer and what US govt can actually let them sell. They as a company dont have any problem doing business with anyone...

At least they can upgrade Pakistani F-16s.beside upgradation we can also buy some new IT technologies.and there should be some thing for us to buy. :)

LOL dream on...

Pakistan should un-invite U.S. companies... when the U.S. backstabs us and refuses to sell us equipment that we NEED to defend ourselves... why the hell do we have any relations with them?

But this is good...shows that IDEAS 2004 is getting a good rep.

With the dismisal of a 2 billion dollar debt, it's more like a case of the US refusing to Give Away the equipment Pakistan needs. Is the US obligated to provide Pakistan with whatever military equipment Pakistan wants? Perhaps Pakistan has a better friend that will handover all of the things Pakistan needs?

Yes US is obliged to sell Pakistan a lot of 'decent' defense items that Pakistan 'needs'. No one is helping the US sweep militants on the Pak.-Afghan border and fight remnants of Al-Qaeda and Taliban. Pakistan's role is far more important than any other country's in the fight against terrorism. Now it should be atleast provided with items which balance the situation of military acquisitions in South Asia. I think with the coming of Lockheed M. and others to IDEAS 2004, the current Pakistani F-16s would be able to get their MLUs in Pakistan only while additional eight coming through to raise the strength back to the original 40. :smokingc:

Even if Pakistan dosnt buy any equipment from Lockhead Martin, the company's presence alone will be benificial for the IDEAS future. Big names attract big customers and orders. A lot can be learned from their marketing skills.

Lockhead.Martin have confirmed their participation but I hope they dont back at the last moment just like USA did with F-16s.
Chinese J-10 developers are also considering to participate..while Pakistan has invited Sweden's SAAB, USA's Grumman, Russian SU builders (Sukhaio Sukhio what ever the name is) along Mikayon Grunvich (MiG) have been invited. I doubt the Russian will come, But LockHead. M will compansate for that all.
These are just AirFighter building companies, there are going to be others aswell.

I read some where that LockHead Martin has agreed to upgrade PAF F-16s
and the USA government is set to give a go ahead.
(They are still willing to sale F-16s but need aproval from their Government)

If only Reagon and Nixon were alive and still USA's Presidents we would have had Surplus of F-16s like Belgium. But if Bush wins again we r into the chance once more but the question is "should we buy more F-16s"?

i don't think we should go for more F-16's. if there available to use without any disruption then yes sure we should have um but realisticly we should move on now.

Hmm.....quite true. We have been saying quite alot on this website. But the real question is that, if USA offers us F-16s should we take them or not? after all we need JEts and quick.

Its better PAF buys those Rafale along with Mirage2000-9 and Mirage2000-H, they are better than India's Mirage 2000-5 series.

Coming back to topic, I think Lockhead-Martin is sending its old team back to Pakistan to visit the F-16s during the 2004 IDEAS program. They said that they would send the team in mid 2004 to check the Jets. Lets see, Hope those two grounded F-16s get fixed.

Ofcourse at 2004 IDEAS LockHead wouldnt be bringing F_16s along with them but they would certainly bring new hardwares and Softwares. Pakistan better keep its eyes on those Softwares.

If the news is true then it will be good news for PAF

Sorry man..No link. I read it on a forum some where while browsing through Yahoo. I was searching for News on Gripen when I came across this.
The Guy also said that LockHead-MArtin is going to take the two grounded F-16s with them to USA cause they wont be able to fix them here. The two grounded Jets were from General Dynamics not LH-M so they might face some minor probs to fix them here.
