LCS-1 Freedom commissioned

She is no longer a dream, the USS Freedom is real. See the video of her commissioning. One is built, the second and third are under construction, and another shipyard has built and is building the same. Obama wishes to buy three more LCS this year.

She was commissioned back in November of 2008, that video was shot while she was still in Marinette, Wisconsin.

Since then they've done a crew turn over, and another long yard visit to loose some weight. I've been on board to do some work, and it is an interesting ship that has a lot of great concepts, I'm just not sold on the high speed requirements and very low manning requirements.

From an article I read, some of the Navy personel that have been on her are simply amazed at the amount of space below decks and the massive[/] flight deck.
