Boeing, Aeromexico Announce Next-Generation 737-700 Order SEATTLE --- Boeing and Aeromexico today said the airline is acquiring 10 additional Next-Generation 737-700 airplanes for its fleet-modernization program. Aeromexico ordered eight of the airplanes from Boeing and is leasing the remainder. As the transaction was completed earlier, Boeing has reflected it on its orders website in the “unidentified†category. “The 737-700 remains a key solution for our airline,†said Aeromexico Chief Executive Officer Fernando Flores. “The superior operating economics of the Next-Generation 737s are especially important in light of continued rising fuel costs.

†The airplanes will be delivered between July and December, 2005. This order complements Aeromexico’s 2003 order for 15 airplanes, 10 of which have been delivered. The remainder will be delivered by the end of November. The 737-700’s short- and long-range flight flexibility provides access to 90 percent of Aeromexico’s destinations. The airplane also replaces less efficient older aircraft and will allow Aeromexico to comply with noise reduction laws as required. Aeromexico’s 737-700s have 112 economy-class seats and 12 Clase Premier seats, and the largest available overhead storage bins.

As with Aeromexico’s other 737s, the new ones will have Blended Winglets -- 8-foot-long wingtip extensions that reduce fuel consumption by approximately 3.5 percent and increase the aircraft’s range up to 450 nautical miles. The winglets improve performance at hot, high-altitude airports like Mexico City, reduce airplane noise by lowering the engine thrust required at takeoff, and help reduce engine maintenance costs by reducing wear. The Boeing Next-Generation 737s fly higher, faster, farther, and more quietly than comparable airplanes, while offering greater fuel efficiency.

It is the world’s best-selling commercial airplane family, with more than 5,400 ordered by 220 customers. (ends) Panama’s Copa Announces Order for Two Boeing 737-700s (Source: Boeing Co.; issued Sept. 9, 2004) PANAMA CITY, Panama --- Boeing and Copa Airline executives today said the Panamanian airline will add four new Boeing Next-Generation 737 airplanes to its all-Boeing fleet during the next two years. Copa ordered two 737-700s from Boeing, which will be delivered in 2006. It will also receive a 737-700 and a 737-800 next year from leasing companies.

Those airplanes will increase the carrier’s fleet to 24 Next-Generation 737s -- 20 737-700s and four 737-800s -- and make it one of the newest fleets in the Americas. “Copa Airlines will have one of the most modern, technologically advanced airplane fleets, allowing it to provide service to New York or Buenos Aires or Santiago,†said Toby Bright, Boeing Commercial Airplanes executive vice president of sales. “Boeing is proud of this order from a cutting-edge carrier.†Copa Airlines was the first carrier in the Americas to incorporate blended-winglets on the 737-700. Now all Copa airplanes have the distinctive curved wing ends, which improve lift and fuel efficiency.

Copa also was the first airline in the Americas to order Boeing Next-Generation 737s with Vertical Situation Display (VSD), a system that provides pilots with an easy-to-understand view of the flight path. Bright, Raymond Conner, Boeing vice president of sales for the Americas, and John Wojick, Boeing vice president of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean, joined Copa executives in Panama to make the announcement. Tocumen International Airport, Copa’s hub, is positioned as a timesaving hub on long routes between the United States, South America, Central America and the Caribbean.

The Panamanian airline operates four of the world’s longest 737 routes out of Tocumen -- to Buenos Aires, Santiago, Sao Paulo and Los Angeles -- taking full advantage of the 737’s exceptional range. The digitally redesigned 737 are the newest and most technologically advanced single-aisle airplane. Outfitted with a new wing and more powerful engines, the new 737s fly higher, faster and farther than previous models and competitors. In addition, the Next-Generation 737 flight deck features the latest liquid crystal flat-panel displays and is designed to accommodate new communications and flight-management capabilities.

Brazil - UH-60L Black Hawk Helicopters

Brazil - UH-60L Black Hawk Helicopters On 7 September 2004, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Brazil of UH-60L Black Hawk Helicopters as well as associated equipment and services. The total value, if all options are exercised, could be as high as $250 million. The Government of Brazil has requested a possible sale of 10 UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters with T-700- GE-701C engines, 25 spare T-700-GE-701C engines, 22 7.62mm M134 Mini guns, search and rescue equipment, litters and hoists, spare and repair parts, tools and support equipment, publications and technical data, personnel training and training equipment, contractor engineering and technical support services and other related elements of logistics support.

The estimated cost is $250 million. This proposed sale would contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country, which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in South America. Brazil needs these aircraft to fulfill its strategic commitments for search and rescue and self-defense within the region without being dependent upon assistance of other countries. This procurement will upgrade its air mobility capability and provide for the defense of vital installations and close air support for ground forces.

Brazil will have no difficulty absorbing these helicopters into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not affect the basic military balance in the region. The principle contractors will be: Sikorsky Aircraft of Stratford, Connecticut and General Electric of Lynn, Massachusetts. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale. Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to Brazil. There will be no adverse impact on U.

S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale. This notice of a potential sale is required by law; it does not mean that the sale has been concluded.
