Hyderabad, July 31. (PTI): India is looking forward to build longer-range missiles in collaboration with Israel, Defence Science Adviser V.K. Atre, said today.

Speaking to reporters at the Aeronautical Society of India meeting, he said the Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) is holding dialogue with Israel.

"Wherever they have strengths, we want to jointly develop the missiles so that both the countries can benefit and share designs, costs and risk," he said. "The maturity to develop these technologies has given an edge to India."

Atre said an indigenously built air-borne early warning system would be in place in the next six to seven years. "Work on this will start in a couple of months."

He said the DRDO laboratory "Imarat" in Hyderabad would soon integrate the "ring laser gyro", developed indigenously, into the navigational system. The ring gyro is a component in a navigational system, which helps give the attitude of a missile system, he said adding these are going to find application in the navigational systems of missiles and Light Combat aircraft.

About MEM's (micro electrical mechanical system) he said that the project is going in the fourth year .The applications will be demonstrated and said it is necessary to orient youngsters towards these projects.

AOA:

This is an eye opener for Pakistan. Where do we stand? do we have any plans? we just make statements, statements and statements.

Pakistan doesn't have expansionist or aggressive designs, hence no need for such long-range missiles as its a waste of the precious limited resources we have! The upcoming Ghauri-III would be more than enough as it's range covers all of India and can reach Israel (if we ever get that hostile with Israel - we're not in conflict with 'em as of now). :smokingc:

Thread says "... Longer-range missiles... " and not longer-range air-to-air missiles or ballistic ones or any other specific ones. So then, all types come under the light. Perhaps Brahmos should've been more carefull with the wordings. :smokingc:

It could be the Popeye Turbo which is a Submarine-launched cruise missile.

It could be the LORA missile system because we do need a conventional ballistic missile with a range over 600km.

It could be a new Barak anti-sea skimming missile as IN want long range anti-sea skimming missiles.

It could an ICBM as India wanted Israel's help for devepoling new INS for billistic missiles.

It could be anything. :D:

Hi:

My first post here. India very smart. It gets Missle/space launcher tech from Russia/france. Gives it to Israel, gets Navigation & Guidance sytem from Israel, and gives this to Russia with Brahmos. Fund R&D in Israel,France and Russia and buy all the products. And earn slave money from US call centers. Not much work reap all benefits.

Israel gives Travor aromur, etc. Russia gives Yahont, Russia gives T-90s, France gives Space Launcher, Russiagive Crogenic Engines. Russia even give fuel for Nuclear plant & build Nuclear plant.

China build all its systems, some times reverse engineering.

Return to the topic.....

It could be ARROW..... :D: :D: ;)

August 2

The Indian military leadership has taken its first step on ballistic missile defence. An inter-service committee, headed by a two-star officer, has been set up at the Integrated Defence Staff Headquarters for a detailed study on the technical and operational aspects of a missile defence cover for India, as also its cost implications.

This committee will submit its report to the Chiefs of Staff Committee, which will then consider the issue before making a relevant recommendation to the government.

Already, Israel is reported to have proposed that India join hands with it in the development of the Arrow missile defence system. The feasibility of this offer has been advanced by India's acquisition of Israeli-made radar and early warning systems.

India already has the Barak anti-missile system for point defence. It has also acquired the Greenpine ground-based early warning radars and finalised the deal for the Phalcon airborne early warning system. The Greenpines will also feed target data to the Phalcons. It remains to be seen whether these systems can eventually be integrated into an overarching missile defence cover.
